What to see in Uganda

Gorillas in the Mist

These are found in the Bwindi impenetrable forest that lies at an altitude between 1160-2607m above sea level. The gentle giants share the park with other documented 90 mammal species including 11 primates. There are 8 habituated groups for tourist purposes

Chimpanzee trekking

For the best chimpanzee trekking in east Africa look no further than Uganda. With over 5000 chimpanzees that can be viewed from Ngamba chimpanzee sanctuary on the shores of lake Victoria  was established as a rescue center for orphaned, trafficked and those that have survived poaching. And in its natural habitat in Kibale national park, Budongo forest near Murchison Park, and Kyambura gorge in Queen Elizabeth National park. Kibale is the most popular for trekking the chimpanzee that have been habituated just like the gorillas for tourist viewing.

Birding in the wild

Uganda is one of the best destinations for birding enthusiasts not because of its high number of species but also because of its easy access to numerous bird rich habitats. Uganda has an impressive avian population of over 1000 species, because of Ugandans’ diversity is it’s the different habitats like the arid semi-desert, rich savannahs, low land and montane rain forests, wetland, and volcanoes. Considering that more than 10% of the avian population in east Africa is found in Uganda with species like the hornbill species seven of the 20 recorded in the east African region are found in Uganda .

Wildlife safaris in the savanna

Uganda has a diversity of wildlife in its national parks. These include the lions, zebras, buffaloes, elephants, leopards, baboons, giraffes, cheetahs, Uganda kobs, the rare water bucks, bush bucks, bush pigs, and many more. Golden monkey trekking

The Golden monkey” Old World Monkey.” is only found in the virunga volcanoes bamboo forests and gets its name from its striking golden orange  coloring  on its tails ,its cheeks and patches on its back and torso that sit on  jet black legs   and head that give it a unique stunning visual effect. In Uganda the golden monkey is found in the Mgahinga National park, and these endangered species are estimated to be around 4000 in population as per the 2003 and its confined in an area of about 5000 square kilometers in the Albertine Rift valley.

Cultural experience in communities

Uganda is a boiling pot of cultural diversity with over 33 dialects of language so is the culture, the Bantu speaking tribes are the dominant who occupy the bigger part of central all through to the western part of the country when you cross lake Kyoga they are mainly Nilotic speaking  all differentiated by dialects.

In some parts the monarchs still play an important role in the preservation of the cultural heritage in these communities.
